Gilded Hair is an amazing salon in Wokingham, founded and run by Jo Gilder. She opened her first salon in 2007 and over the next 5 years grew to the point where, in 2018, moved into a much larger salon and launched her new Academy.
Jo is very social media savvy and has always been a presence on the various social media platforms her quirky and unique style and personality making her stand out.
With the opening of the new salon she wanted to start leveraging the all the interesting aspects of what she does and so wanted to showcase the salon with a promotional video.
With the huge variety of videos out there she wanted to know how to best showcase her passion, the salon as a whole and her great team. She wanted to show the atmosphere and family feeling of the salon, the care taken to make people feel amazing and special and the time taken to ensure all clients walk out with the best hairstyle for them.
What we did
We talked about a video between 2.5-3mins long to ensure we didn't make it too long and kept the interest of the audience. We decided to make it quite dynamic by adding footage of what was happening throughout the salon to a real feel of what a visit to the salon would be like.
The decision was made to shoot the footage on a busy salon day to capture the hustle, bustle and atmosphere and really show how the team interacting with the customers and each other.
Part of the discussion of the final video included the type of music to use; rather than using standard corporate video music I decided to use a jazz track to fit in with Jo's personality and the fun, friendliness of the salon.
In addition, to ensure that Jo was able to leverage her social media in the best way possible I also produced a set of short clips showing different aspects of the salon to allow them to produce content around specific parts of the salon. For example, with a short clip of colour being applied they are able to post the short as it is, write a blog post about colour and add interest with the video etc.
